For the past few years of developing myself, I have learned the importance of being grateful and showing gratitude. I mean I have always been pretty grateful but throughout this metamorphosis, I can now truly feel the impact of my efforts. The conscious efforts have paved a new way for me that is truly remarkable.

Every day first thing at 4 a.m. and about 10 minutes after I wake up I take a 40-minute walk around my neighborhood. No phones, no technology, just me and the world around me. As I walk I speak out certain staple things that I am grateful for into the universe, to the roosters, or to whoever else wants to hear. This has certainly been a big habit for me to create and I am happy to say it is fixed into my lifestyle.

12 Tips On How To Be Grateful And Truly Appreciate It

1.  Start observing your surroundings. Like for real, open up your eyes. Start from where you are.

2.  Gratitude is a skill developed over time. You have to cultivate it by putting as much positivity out there as you can. Be that person that finds positivity wherever you may roam.

3.  There are lots of benefits of being grateful and there are lots of things to be thankful for. You can make note of these things all day long. For me, I do it a lot along my daily walks. I express gratitude for the beautiful skies, the beautiful flowers, the trees, the tiny little creatures, and so on. I find that taking lots of pictures of these things makes me more grateful. You don’t have to be a photographer, because the tech we have today on our smart devices ends up making them look epic almost always. Find it, see it, capture it!

4.  Write it down or speak it out daily or both. When you physically write things down it seems to be way more impactful. Not typing them out, actually pen and paper type thing. Speak it out into the Universe. It’s ok if others think you’re crazy, who cares right?!

5.  It takes less than 2 minutes. You have two minutes I promise you. Then you will feel much better.

6.  They say that the more you are thankful for the more you’ll get. I don’t really like to think about the having more part to show gratitude but it’s apparently a byproduct so that’s kinda cool.

7.  Don’t concentrate on the things you don’t have. It will consume you.

8.  Appreciate as many good people around you as you can. Let them know. Tell them face to face or even write them a card.

9.  Learn to appreciate yourself. Yes, I know many of you have issues with this but your own positive acknowledgments will be monumental in this whole gratitude thing.

10.  Don’t forget to take in the small stuff. Most people overlook this I and I think it’s a big mistake. The more small things you can appreciate the more observant you will become about how many cool things are around you. For one, you are breathing and not in the ground. Your lungs are pumping air for you to stay alive. That’s considered small but when you really look at it it’s a big thing.

11.  People always say, “You only live once!” That’s BS, you live every single freakin day so appreciate that! You actually live daily and die once. Unless you are that cat in the neighborhood, that thing seems to die daily. You know the one I am talking about!

12.  Some say it’s a good idea to carry some kind of token as a reminder. For example a gratitude stone, a crystal, or something else that may help you remember to be in the present moment and to appreciate all the wonderful things that you have.

Conclusion

Be grateful because there are many people who envy exactly where you currently are!
