How we address each other, ourselves, and the world around us is very important. It speaks volumes and we should really learn to understand it. Lately, I have been thinking about this topic and wondering what the heck happened to me back then. Many years ago I heard others saying, “words matter” and I wanted to punch them in the face! No, not really I am totally kidding. This is a family show!

I was in a time and space where my world was kinda crazy and I was completely surrounded by negative people. Like for real. I didn’t understand that the words I spoke and the words heard really had any impact on my internal psychology whatsoever. Luckily I came through that and was able to fully comprehend its effects.

Words matter on so many levels, but most only think that it’s to stop being mean to others. It isn’t nice to be mean to others, of course, however, our own internal dialog should be understood first and foremost. We need to understand what we have said about ourselves in the past and why. How long have we been saying those things?

For most people, they have been saying bad things about themselves their whole lives. You need to get to the source and fix it so you can move forward. We also need to understand what we’ve heard our whole lives from family, friends, and so on. Did they take a toll on how we interact with the world?

If we speak badly about ourselves the mind will eventually believe it. True story! Personally, I am not a big fan of when people say that they say bad things about themselves to motivate them to do better. I don’t believe it’s true. My perception and experience of that are that the people I have heard that from haven’t progressed so it obviously hasn’t had the impact they have claimed. (yes there are people that do that and it worked for but not on a grand scale so of course to each their own)

It’s all about goodness. Put it out there into the world. It just feels better anyway. The words we say to others can really affect them and that’s not good, so let’s try to do the right thing always. Don’t just do it when it would serve you. Our tone, inflection, and the way we convey things are so important.

Something I have been doing for the past few years that I really like is to keep saying nice things to those around me as much as I can. It helps them and it helps me. I know that my words have a lot of power behind them. One thing I know is that I am able to bring someone up or tear them down. I have been told that I look like a pretty intimidating guy which kinda sucks because I am like a big Teddy Bear.

Be kind to yourself and to the world around you!

Conclusion

The words that come out of our mouths can be for good or for bad. Choose wisely!
