We live in a world of information these days which is absolutely amazing, however not all the information we take in is accurate. Misinformation seems to be the norm and most are oblivious to how destructive it can be. Do understand that information in it itself is subject to our own perception. My perception of the information could be different than yours.

We need to take initiative

The misinformation I speak of is the type of information that is completely false. Sometimes people get things wrong and then go with it. It is up to us to truly learn about the things that are important to us. We need to take the initiative to do more research instead of believing the first thing we read. Especially if we are utilizing the world wide web for knowledge.

The internet has info on tap. Most of us will type a subject in the subject bar and then grab whatever is in the top ten of results as true and factual. We take it for granted that what we read is genuine.

Utilize as many resources as possible

So, how the heck would we know what we are reading is true? This part kinda sucks because it seems we need to doubt what we read at first in the interest of continuing on to other sources to try to sift through the info to arrive at some type of answer that seems factual.

Let’s take more of an initiative and really dig deep into the topics that we really want to learn. In 2020 the top 5 searches on GOOGLE were the election results, coronavirus, Kobe Bryant death, coronavirus symptoms, and coronavirus updates. Millions of articles were published on these topics but there can only be so many items viewable on the first page. Not all are factual.

It is said that there have been more resources that are going to go into fact-checking from GOOGLE and other search engines to try to weed out the information that is not genuine. But at the end of the day, these search engines are businesses so let’s take that with a grain of salt. These days I find myself really digging in deep on subjects of interest and really hoping that what I digest was the right stuff. Over time I am learning what resources have the tendency to have the most reliable info.

We need to use our resourcefulness skills and dig into the most important things. I love researching things and I enjoy gaining knowledge of topics of interest. There are many university sites and .org sites that give us great resources that are proving to be accurate with info.

Conclusion

It is truly up to us to figure this stuff out. Be wise and focus young Jedi and learn as much as you can. We can teach ourselves how to do so many things these days. Yes, we will fumble along the way, but we will grow and learn along the way.
