Stress is a killer. A straight-up killer of all sorts of things. Our health and overall well-being can quickly be affected by daily stresses. But how can we stop stresses from overtaking us? The answers aren’t that easy and neither are the solutions, but it is up to us to learn how to identify our stresses. You need to minimize stress now or suffer later.

Many of us know that having too much stress isn’t good for us, but we don’t know what to do. Each of us has different ways of handling stress and there is no one size fits all type of magic potion. We need to figure out what the sources are one by one and once we understand what the stresses are we can then start to help ourselves.

Stressing can overwhelm you

It took me a long time to recognize that stress was overwhelming me. My day-to-day life was filled with responsibilities and most of the time all I would do is react to them. Now I have a better understanding of what the stresses are and I have been able to foresee them coming. I am more proactive these days than reactive and that has gone a long way towards minimizing my stresses. Additionally, I have learned to stop saying yes to everything. This one was a big one for me.

Don’t let stress overtake your life and do your very best to minimize it the best way possible. After all, we only have this life so let’s not get bogged down with the blah. Minimizing stress leads to a healthier and happier life for you and your family. Be intentional about your choices.

What stress can do to our bodies:

  • we can develop headaches on a regular basis.
  • we start losing precious sleep.
  • we can develop heartburn.
  • we can start developing gastrointestinal problems.
  • we can become depressed.
  • we become higher risk for heart attacks.
  • our immune system can be at risk.
  • our sex drives can be affected.
  • we can develop tense muscles.
  • we can develop high blood pressure.
  • relationships can suffer and the list goes on and on.

What we can do to minimize stress:

  • start an exercise routine.
  • get a sleep routine going and stick to it every single day even on weekends.
  • start eating healthier.
  • journal and write down how your day is going.
  • get professional counseling to help navigate the ups and downs of emotions.
  • it is said that certain types of supplements can aid the effects of stress.
  • minimize known stresses the best way possible.
  • meditate daily.
  • chewing gum has a fascinating way of distracting your brain.
  • minimize your mind from recounting the stresses.
  • get into a cool hobby of choice.
  • spend time around people that you love and that love and support you.
  • remove yourself from as many negative environments and people as possible.
  • avoid procrastinating on things that need to get done.
  • deep breathing exercises have worked for me in the past so maybe it will work for you.
  • listen to good soothing music.
  • try to stay away from caffeine and sugars.

Conclusion

If you let the day-to-day stresses take over your life, you will end up finding out that your health has been affected. Take the necessary steps now to help you discover what the stresses are and come up with a plan to ease them the best way possible. Get help from others if it’s too much for you to handle.
