empty streets suggested by health officials

We are entering uncertain times. With the COVID 19 (coronavirus) at a global reach, we need to do our best to be informed and make the very best decisions we can for ourselves and our family. Unfortunately, we as people are uncertain of the facts. Why are we so uncertain?

First off, we haven’t experienced anything like this in our lifetime and most feel that it won’t happen to them. We need to remove that mentality and do our best to reduce the spreading of it the best we can.

Don’t fall victim to misinformation

One of the biggest issues I am discovering is misinformation delivered and spread to others. Much like the disease, we don’t know what we don’t know. When we don’t truly know and tell others things we’ve heard it ends up much like the “starts as a banana and ends up like a watermelon.” Meaning, the story starts one-way “banana” then gets told to others and details gets lost or added along the way, then arrives in the end completely different than it started “watermelon.” The COVID 19 (coronavirus) is a very impactful disease and it’s important for us to be as accurate as possible. Of course, there are some people out there that it really doesn’t matter what is said they will still go crazy. Don’t be that one!

Lack of faith

In the United States, we have an unsettling lack of faith in what’s being delivered to us regarding information. There are lots of reasons why and I won’t delve into that as it really won’t help us at this current moment. What will help us is for us to try to connect with others in the best way we can for support. We live in a digital age, so let’s try to put it to some good use.

We are uncertain as to what’s really going to happen with COVID 19 and how it will affect us directly. It is spreading rapidly and we as the United States haven’t been proactive enough to help get the necessary medical diagnose kits out. This pertains to the development, fabrication, and distribution throughout the US.

This, of course, is in my opinion and it may be incorrect. Again, my opinion. But what is known is that the region of the world in which it originated, has had an immediate response with tactics to try to contain and isolate as best as possible. They worked as a team.

Media sensationalizing

The fact of relying on the words from officials that we don’t trust is unsettling. This is not directed to anyone official, in particular, it’s meant as a whole. We have a very watered down system with media sensationalizing things for their own agendas. We have completely lost faith in our media to deliver facts to us. No one knows what is correct and that is disheartening. A society that is completely non-trusting.

So with all of this, being uncertain is right on track. Ok, now we know that we are all a complete mess with no faith, unsure, and confused. One avenue of information leads us one way and then another in the opposite direction. What the heck do we do now?

As each day passes we are reacting to whatever comes our way

Many work jobs outside of the home, have school-age children, and other loved ones that they need to take care of. The challenges are very real even for a single person with no family to survive and thrive as it is. We are encouraged to stay away from others, so the natural reaction is to go on lock-down. How would people be able to go on lock-down if they have jobs that they have to be at daily?

Well, before people can do this they have to have necessary supplies like food and other necessities. With many living paycheck to paycheck and only have $1000 in their accounts, they won’t have enough to hold them over. We need to be kind to others and be aware that we are all trying to get a handle on the uncertainty.

Some things that we can do to try to prepare for the upcoming months are:

  • Get in touch with loved ones and talk about your plans. Loved ones can lend an ear. Keeping the line of communication open will help through these troubling times.
  • Try to not make a knee jerk decision without having sufficient reliable information.
  • Assess your current situation to potentially make some changes. Financial, lifestyle and habit changes.
  • Avoid paying attention to social media updates from peers and others. Go directly to the traditionally known resources for reliability. Unfortunately, many people are posting things joking and others may not understand. They may make assumptions and decisions based on that information. Do try your best to stay positive for yourself, your family and your friends.
  • During this time it’s hard for many of us to really grasp what’s truly going on because many are afraid of the uncertainty and potentially make rash decisions, so try to take time to do an inner reflection.

Here are a few known reliable resources

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention                                   As the nation’s health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health, safety, and security threats.
  • USA.gov                                                                                                    (source wiki.com) is the official web portal of the United States federal government. It is designed to improve the public’s interaction with the US government by quickly directing website visitors to the services or information they are seeking, and by inviting the public to share ideas to improve government.
  • travel.state.gov                                                                                     All types of information related to traveling throughout the United States and abroad.

Many of us have really cool ideas on how to help us through these times, what are you doing? (in home prep, work situation, finance, lifestyle, habits, enjoyment, passing time, and all other) What suggestions would you give others?

*********Please respond to the questions here with us so we can learn and grow.  The good and the bad will help others recognize successes and failures in our own lives.  Thank you so very much!**********
