Are you on self-development overload? Sadly, I believe that many have no clue because they are on the quest for discovery and tend to have their blinders on. This topic is really tough for me to even bring up. I myself and the rest of our readers are on the same quest.

The core purpose of Ridiculously Enjoy Life is to create a healthy space for internal discovery and then progress on to self-development. We need to figure out who we are as individuals so that we can strive to better ourselves. Little by little, we will move that needle forward. Then and only then can we reach that internal and external success that we all want and deserve.

So you can see and understand why this one is tough. We need to learn, we need to strive for bigger things for ourselves, and we need to soak in as much as we can. This is the part where we really need to have some kind of internal gauge or limiter for the purposes of not accidentally sabotaging our overall mission. Our mission of self-development is a big one with so many sources that we can end up getting confused and overwhelmed.

I am recognizing that many people nowadays are so filled with quotes and terms from self-help books that they truly can’t see straight. Lean into this, Lean into that, pivot here, pivot there. Stop the madness. They don’t know where they stand. Like a wave crashing over you and pushing you down under, you can struggle to find the surface for air.

When you have so many sources of great information you can end up doubting what you previously discovered about yourself. You just read this one book with rave reviews about a year ago and you have now managed to implement new and healthy habits. That’s fantastic, but the latest book from that one other guy says never do this or that. Damn, now I don’t know what to do or what to believe.

Remember that all those people out there are in a business to sell you something. Well, guess what, so are we! Did you notice our line of cool apparel and art listed above? Lots of cool designs and inspirational apparel! (shameless plug I know) But the point is that even here at Ridiculously Enjoy Life you can get overwhelmed with stuff that evokes emotion and could make you wonder.

It is truly very important for you to learn who you are. Know who you are because if you don’t figure it out soon you could be lost in the world of self-development and become suggestive in ways that could be unhealthy for you. Your psychology bills will rack up and you will be completely unhinged. Moderation is key. And also filtering. I don’t have a filter so this one may be tricky for me.

Conclusion

Reading self-help books, watching motivational videos, and attending extravagant seminars are all very cool things, but we can really start doubting who we are and what we are capable of if we consume too much without having a stronghold of who we are at our very core. Nothing is wrong with you. You are not broken.

What one book has made a lasting impact on you?
