How do you get inspiration? Many times we find ourselves at an idle state with little motivation for something that we want or need to do. Just because it’s something that we truly want to do doesn’t mean that we always have all of the motivation and answers on tap. It’s ok, we are human. Time to take a step back to get a new angle.

We could use a little boost every now and then and finding inspiration matters. The boost I am speaking of is inspiration. Inspiration can come in many different forms. You could be inspired by so many sources, but it’s important to have good and healthy ones. Stimulating conversations with your peers could give you that spark needed to kick it into high gear. Wherever you can get inspired take it.

Lack of motivation

I was recently working on a cool art project and found myself stalled out. Being idle sucks and it didn’t make me happy. My day started off in a blah manner and my brain just wasn’t getting the mood that I started with even though I really wanted to complete it and be proud of it.

I took to the internet and did some searching for the style project that I was currently working on. Luckily I discovered several pieces that were similar to what I was working on.

Inspiration found

What I discovered was so cool that it literally created that spark I was needing to get back to it. Additionally, it gave me some new ideas on what to do. I have enjoyed art for as long as I can remember. I stopped doing art back in my early 20’s when my world was super busy with work. In my late 30’s I decided I wanted to get back to it, however, I had nerve damage that made it tricky to accomplish with a steady hand.

I gave up on art once again. A couple of years went by and I was really missing the beauty and creativity of it. The desire not to be bound by a perceived issue gave me my own inspiration to get back into it. I reflected on what it was that I wanted in life. It was nice for me to pick it up on my own and for that, I am truly grateful. I wanted to work through the shaky hand and see what I was capable of doing. The art is turning out great and I enjoy looking at it.

9 Tips to Get Inspired

1- Nature– Walking in nature calms the mind and can give some clarity. Having a clear head gives the opportunity to discover inspiration.

2- Learning– Researching different topics in libraries, online, and video sources can spark a lot of inspiration in many ways. Learning is never a waste regardless. Except for perhaps Algebra. Not a fan of that math at all, ha!

3- Hobbies– Having an interest in a certain hobby can really be a good source of inspiration for other things. When you feel good doing an activity your mind can wander with curiosity. That curiosity lets you get creative and inspire you to do something. One cool project you’re working on can lead to another cool project and so on.

4- Meditation– Being calm and centered throughout the meditation process can lead to the openness of ideas afterward. You can be your own inspiration.

5- Exercise– Much like meditation, exercising will get you centered within yourself and afford you the opportunity to have a clear mind.

6- Music– A great source of inspiration with positive rhythms and lyrics gets the feel-good juices flowing. I always listen to music and enjoy it very much.

7- Communicating with peers– Chatting with people in your circle can help get the inspiration going. Many of our peers are creative and have done so many things that you’re bound to get something cool going.

8- Mentors– A good mentor can really guide you in a way to get to all the goodness you’re capable of. Many of us can use positive influences in our lives. These mentors don’t even have to be your personal ones, they could be ones in the online world that we haven’t met personally. As long as they are good and healthy sources who care where the inspiration comes from, right!

9- Inspirational quotes– There are so many amazing people in this world that have the ability to touch our souls with their words. The quotes can resonate within you and truly get you up and running in no time.
