The 1% grab the sky! My preconceived notion of the ultra-wealthy was that they were snobby and disconnected from the common folk.  Seeing TV shows and films paved the mentality.  Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was a really cool show back in the day which made most of us daydream of elaborate homes and cars that were only seen on posters previously.  I had that poster on my wall of the Lamborghini Countach which most others had at the time. Drool!

“It Doesn’t Matter Where You Came From. All That Matters Is Where You Are Going.”                 – Brian Tracy

The self-made wealthy work very hard.

You would always see the rich look down on others and criticize their situations as if they were peasants.  The portrayal of the holier than thou mentality kept them on high pedestals and seemingly out of reach.  I wanted to be just like them.  I wanted to be seen, respected and admired like royalty.  So many want to be like them but have no freaking clue on what it really takes to get there.  Most assume that they don’t work for it and that it is just given to them by their parents.  Stop for just a second.  Ok, maybe it is given, but most that I meet, its nothing like that.  Something that I didn’t realize up until just recently is that regardless of me having money or not having money I have always been seen, respected and admired.  My personality is live and in color.

Portray self-confidence.

I am very confident and charismatic, although there were many periods in my life that I previously didn’t display it.  Even though I knew that I had these character traits sometimes negative parts in my life would pull me down or at least I should say I allowed myself to get this way.  Head and shoulders are down and completely unapproachable.  When I was secure and confident with myself my head was always held high and I would look people in their eyes with respect.  It is extremely important to have self-confidence in yourself and display it on the daily.

So, what does all this have to do with the 1%?

Same mindset.

The 1% that I meet are very like-minded and insanely driven.  Being a part of the exotic car world for some time now and the people I’ve met along the way are nothing like what’s portrayed.  Heartless and cold were not the feeling I got.  Now, I must say that most of the extremely wealthy people I have met are in the car world, so I can only speak of these rich @$$ scofflaws.  They have all shown me respect whether driving a matte black Suburban or driving a Lamborghini Huracan.  My Huracan isn’t here quite yet but it is a special custom order that takes several years.  No instant gratification here.

Being competitive.

They are a very tight-knit group and thrive on one another in an amazing way.  They celebrate other’s accomplishments and if things aren’t going as well in the business or financial world there is a collaboration of thoughts, ideas, and resources that seem manifest out of nowhere to help the other.  It is a match and a one-up type of mentality.  Call it a friendly competition.  In my experience, this is where things get tighter.  When the 1% come across others that are successful financially they spread their colorful wings to attract the other.  There is an understanding amongst the other because most have put in the hard work that it takes to get to this financial status.  Yes, some have had it passed down from family but I haven’t met one of those as of yet.

Be driven.

I have met so many at this point in my life and each and every one of them are very hard workers.  Day in, day out and pretty much 24/7 they are doing their grind.  Some have several that they deal with and it takes a lot to maintain them.  Growth is always in the forefront.  Most work many more hours than others to achieve their level of success.  When people see videos of these individuals on social media relaxing on a yacht, they say must be nice.

The reality is that in most cases before and after said videos were filmed these people were working on their next step to maintain the lifestyle they have.  Being determined, driven and creative gives these people the edge on most others.  Most of the 1% I have met are very caring and charitable to others but they are reserved from others because of not many commonalities.  Think about football fans and gamers.  If you have a 24/7 video gamer trying to chat with a football fan, there’s not much in common so they usually won’t click.

relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of artistic work.

What is your experience with a 1%’r?  Have you ever met one of these unicorns?  How did it go?
