5 Great Ways to Become Productive

Fresh hot now tips and tricks for better ways of being productive:

(in no magical order)

  1. 2-minute rule. Productivity author David Allen came up with this rule which has been so beneficial to me. In short, if a task only takes about two minutes to accomplish and you are able to do it right then and there, do it. Check it off your to-do list.                 Example: You get notification of a bill that’s due in 7 days, instead of going into your phone’s calendar and setting up another reminder, just log into the account the bill is due and pay it now. It’s amazing how many tasks people put on a to-do list that could be done immediately.
  2. Prioritize most important tasks. Having a game plan for the day will go along way to becoming productive. I work on the most important tasks in the morning first thing. This helps a lot because this is when my brain is functioning at its best. Next, remove unnecessary tasks from your lists. We all have items that are truly unnecessary.
  3. Stop laying in bed. When it’s time to wake up, get out of bed. If you have motivation issues, that’s on a previous post. You can use a cool trick that Mel Robbins created which is the 5-second rule. She says that your brain has a 5-second time frame where you do or do not do something. Use the 5-second rule as a countdown timer to get up and out of bed. She literally counts down from 5 to 1 and then gets up. Luckily, I don’t have to use this one because I am diligent with my morning routine.
  4. Work on tasks for 45-50 minute blocks. When you block times for tasks and you understand that there is a timer, you will accomplish way more than you think. Next, take a break. Get up stretch, walk, get a healthy snack, or whatever. Then you can come back to it. This one has been amazing for me.
  5. Structure a routine. The reason this is a benefit to productivity is that if you create a good routine, you won’t spend the day wondering what you should do next. If you know what your typical day consists of, fine-tuning the tasks into a system will maximize your productivity.

Conclusion

Having a good understanding of your productivity habits or a lack there of will help you come up with a strategy to start becoming a productive person. Take the necessary steps and take action
