Success!  What a wonderful word.  This word is only earned with hard work and dedication.  For real, it’s not a given just because you want it. In this article, we include 15 great tips for planning your success. I am understanding that success is a skill that is fine-tuned over time.  You have to refine your mindset in your pursuit of success.  The reason is that along this journey you should have created and implemented new habits and once you accomplish them you will realize that your mindset prior may have been a little off or you needed different actions.  Just like skills.  As you work on them and you get better, you combine your previous knowledge and experience with your new knowledge.  This post will give you some good pointers to accomplish just that.  Most of these will be applicable to both internal and external success.

“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”

-Bruce Lee

There is no special order for your attack!  …and go!

1-Stop distractions.                                                                                                        This is huge.  First, you really need to look at your life and analyze what are the triggers.  What are the things that take you away from your goals?    Hobbies are something different, but you need to find the right balance of time.  Isolate things that are time wasters or time suckers and figure out how to redirect that time into time that’s productive.  Nowadays that is really difficult because of tech.  If you sit on social media drooling and dreaming for hours then stop. Seriously.  Facebook will be there, so get on to more productive things.  This for most will be an opportunity to learn a new habit.  The key is to understanding where your time is going first.

2-Continue being grateful.                                                                                             You must value all the goodness in your life.  If you continuously treasure what you have then you will be able to appreciate the hard times and the good times for what they are.  After all, there are people that have way less and more heartache.

3-Problems teach you.                                                                                              Realizing that each and every issue that arises in your path is an opportunity to learn and grow will help you understand your process.

4-Change your direction and keep your goal.                                                   When you find challenges along the way that makes you feel like giving up, stop and reflect on why you wanted to start it in the first place.  Isolate what the issues are, deal with them and redirect where you need to go.  Don’t give up.  Keep your dream alive and go after all of your goals.

5-Do it now.                                                                                                                  I learned something pretty cool which is the “2-minute rule” by David Allen.   If something takes you two minutes or less, do it now.  Like right now.  We put off so many things that come into our lives that we have the ability to tackle immediately, but we usually put it on our to-do list for a later date.  I have found that I am way more productive taking care of it right away.

6-Set big goals.                                                                                                             Create some big goals for yourself.  Then set smaller goals that will help you reach the larger goal.  Next, check them off along the way and you will see the progression of your big goal.  It will at that rate be measurable which will make you feel successful.

7-Positive attitude towards everything.                                                      You hear people say this all the time.  Years ago I wanted to punch people in the face for this one because they were like over the top with it.  I wasn’t in a good place then so you could see how I didn’t know the value.  Or if you really don’t know the value of this one let me share something with you.  With my previous experiences that I perceived as negative, I always felt as if there was a dark gray cloud following me.  In my Post 2, I go into detail about my state of mind further.  Since I changed my thought process, situations seem to be way less stressful and end up going well in the long run.

8-Purpose-driven goals.                                                                                                Create a plan, stick to the plan and always deliver! …wait, I think that’s a line in a movie but I can’t recall.  Either way, it is very important to have direction with what you want in life.  Have a real reason and go with it.

9-Make smart decisions.                                                                                         You are intelligent.  You understand a lot of outcomes so be mindful of that.  That doesn’t mean not to take risks, it just means do your homework in advance.  Do as much as possible so your decisions are sound and just.

10-Don’t overthink.                                                                                                       You know when you have gotten to the point of overthinking.  Stop before you get there.  Realize the importance of having confidence in your abilities so you can be productive and not stress.  You don’t have to have a degree in this thing called life.

11-Carry out decisions.                                                                                                 Following through with what you have decided gives you a sense of accomplishment and over time you create a habit of achievement.  Yes, achievement is a habit and a damn good one.

12-Consistency.                                                                                                              This will make you feel reliable, progressive, and it will become second nature in everything you do.

13-Be committed and persevere.                                                                              Give it your all, whatever it is.  Commitment is also a habit.  Get on board and follow through.  Yes, there will be ups and downs but going the distance helps you learn things that will be a benefit throughout.

14-Routine.                                                                                                                      This one I think is important because having routines means you are accomplishing certain valuable tasks daily.   Routines will balance your day and also help with time management in other areas.                                                                                                                                                                                    15-Create good habits.                                                                                                Look at what toxic things are in your life, isolate them, and then figure out a way to create a positive habit.  The more good habits you have the more goodness will follow.  Creating good habits is behavior.

BONUS

Have faith.

You need to believe in yourself and your abilities.  If you don’t believe it then you are just spinning your wheels.  Don’t get me wrong, spinning wheels are fantastic but only in the automotive world.  When it’s believable, it’s possible.  Go with that mentality.

In conclusion

Planning for success in anything requires a full commitment on your part to achieve your overall goal. Get started and create healthy habits that will be beneficial. I’m rooting for you!
