The secrets of success are not really secrets. Many people don’t truly comprehend what success is. The definition of success varies depending on who you ask. It varies mainly because there seems to be a misunderstanding. One of the first things many will say is that success is being rich and having everything on tap and at your disposal.
In a world of material, it is easy to get lost in all the glitz and glamour. We are constantly seeking to have the latest and greatest and we then kinda seem lost on the inside. Many of us tend to compete for success with others on an external level and completely fall short on the internal side of accomplishments.
To me, success truly lies on the inside. I want to feel whole and complete on who I am as an individual on the inside first and foremost. Have I become a good human being? I believe I am a good human and I now consider myself successful. For years in corporate America, I believe I strived for a bit of acknowledgment from others to define me as successful.
Who are they to say that I am successful? And why do we even seek approval from others to say that we have reached a pinnacle? It is my belief that this is where we begin to fall short of understanding what success really is. However you define success is completely up to you, but I hope that you can bench it against yourself so that you may get clarity.
Since adopting success internally first and foremost, I have started to see life in a whole new way. I am really happy with what I have achieved within myself. Not the store-bought materials that others may put on display to give themselves a false sense of being. Success should be accomplished not chased.
“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”
-Fight Club
I like this quote because I feel that for many people who seek and constantly chase the idea of success, it will wake them up to have a clear understanding of what it really is about. I believe we really need to turn inwards to find the answers. If you want to chase something then I think this is a great place to start.
Who are you? Where are you at with humanity? Do you have a good moral compass? Well, I know who I am and I feel really good with what I have accomplished within. It has been a long road, but only because I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I now understand what it means to me and I treasure the discovery.
Conclusion
Regardless of what your view of success is, I challenge you to discover yourself. Discover who you are as an individual in this sea of people. Once you have keep watering your seed to progress as an individual, wholly and completely. Then and only then decide what success means to you!
