I remember a time when my day was just a day.  I awoke in the morning and went to work.  Dreading the day ahead because I knew I was really unhappy in the place I was in.  Twelve hours of hell, then I would arrive back home to sleep and repeat.  I wasn’t rewarded and didn’t feel I was doing anything rewarding in life.  This stale life was taxing on my soul.

All of the above was such a waste of time.  I needed to redirect my priorities in life.  What did I want for my future?  Where did I want to go in life?  I don’t think I would have had my wake up call ever until my health started declining in 2013.  Ongoing back issues took a toll on my career at the time and led me into my first surgery of several throughout the next 4 years.  Next, my relationships were failing, propelling me straight into divorce.

After so many years of going along in life with others and no plan other than the day to day life, it was coming to an end.  In 2015, after 15 years of being with someone,  the journey of being a single father of two kick-butt daughters was a harsh reality.  I got away from the life of toxic people and after almost a year of boohooing about my financial state and health issues, it made me realize that I needed to discover who I was and what did I need to do with myself and my world.

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.”

– Bruce Lee

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off.

Once all those tissues were gone my brain was able to break down my bad and self-destructive old habits.  The self-discovery was grueling due to the fact that I was literally alone and didn’t have anyone I knew around me to give me feedback on who I was before.  The reason this could be important for others to be involved in your new progression is that if you have been a certain way almost your entire life you may not recognize that you had a “self catastrophizing” way of life.  Meaning that you were or are your own worst enemy. (wakeup call)  I was in fact, this way but had to discover it through my own day to day actions by myself.  Luckily I was able to start recognizing patterns about things that would arise, how they occurred and my emotional reaction to them.

Once I had discovered myself and my way of thinking it was time to create a mindset.  My newly acquired positive thoughts, actions, and beliefs were all key pieces for the big puzzle called mindset.

mindset:

the established set of attitudes held by someone.

Now, once being at this point you should have the good and healthy habits already created and practicing on the daily that is needed to develop a mindset.  In my opinion, you should have developed Posts 1-5:

  1. Lost and Found.
  2. Creating a new state of mind.
  3. The acquisition and development of new and healthy habits.
  4. Surrender the old, absorb the new.
  5. Positive Vibes.

The reason being if you have no idea where you have been, where you are at, and what you need to be successful then you will just be spinning your wheels.

Get your game plan.

Having a mindset is the belief and self-discipline to achieve anything in life.  For example, if you want to be successful in a particular fitness goal then it is imperative to have a game plan.  Once you have a game plan for it you have to practice the new habits to achieve it.  Those created habits put in action without fail no exceptions, yield the result of mindset.  “I have the mindset of a warrior!”  Say this out loud and very loud.  Did you do it?  Raise your hand if you have.  Ok, scratch that because I can’t see you.  Smile.

As I have been learning about myself the past few years, my under construction mindset project is in its final state with grand success.  Do know that with each period or chapter of your life along the way can create the need for a new or remodeled mindset.   (this is also a construction show!)

Tell me about a mindset that you need to achieve and why?  What will this new mindset mean for you?  Or tell me of a type of mindset that had to accomplish and the results.

(Please respond to the questions here with us so we can learn and grow.  The good and the bad will help others recognize successes and failures in our own lives.  Thank you so very much!)
