There are many benefits of focusing on yourself and it’s time that we use them in the right way. Each and every day many of us are so focused on others and their needs that we completely forget about ourselves. This blog post of course is directed at self less people. The good people who care a lot about the world around us.
I wanted to create this post to help you guys realize that you matter too. You matter very much and you have to learn to take care of yourself and the things you need to live a healthy life. The type of life that you can help others as well but not to your own detriment. You know what I mean. This is a reminder.
When we are learning and growing and doing internal work towards inner success there are lots of pieces to the puzzle that we need to understand. We need to understand who we are and what our tendencies are. If we give our everything will there be enough left for ourselves?
I have always been the type to give my absolute all and that’s a really good thing, but I have learned and I am still learning the importance of being able to focus on myself first so that I then may be able to help others. Let’s pass this goodness on.
Here are many benefits to focusing on yourself:
- It sharpens your sense of self. Focusing on yourself can help you understand who you are and help you get rid of many negative thoughts.
- It can create and enhance strengths. If you focus on yourself you will be able to dedicate the time towards understanding what your core strengths are and help you build more. Do the work.
- It will help you prevent burnout. Many people are always saying yes to others’ needs and forgetting that they need things themselves. Not material things but time for themselves. Develop good routines and dedicate at least the first hour of every day to yourself. Meditate, exercise, read, or all of the above.
- It can lead to better relationships. If you treat yourself well the chances of you being happy are greater thus improving important relationships.
- It will increase self-esteem. Your confidence will go up and you will start realizing that you are competent to do anything in your life. This is really important!
- It will define your own value. When done correctly your understanding of your own worth will increase. This can assist you in your career as well.
- It will improve your mental health and well-being. This can increase good mood feelings for greater times. You should be able to handle some daily stresses better. (this is not medical advice so if you are suffering from depression or other issues, please seek a qualified professional)
- It can reduce daily stresses. You will start to recognize where you are falling short and what the triggers of the day are. Is it every day or less frequent? Make note.
- It can make you more productive. If you are able to focus on yourself in the appropriate times you will find that you are getting more things done for yourself.
- It can increase your motivation. You will want to do more good things that help your inner self-progress. Make it a good habit.
- It can reduce anxiety and depression symptoms. When we start doing things by focusing on ourselves we open the door for the feel-good stuff. Anxiety creates fear of the unknown.
- It will give you the opportunity to relax. It’s ok to relax and breathe. Take the time you need to improve your wellness.
Bonus: this is your life and we are limited on the time we are here on Earth. Be mindful of what you do with your time and who you give it to.
Conclusion
Focusing on yourself isn’t a bad thing. In fact it is a very good thing. Don’t become selfish this isn’t the point. If you are no good to yourself you will be no good for those around you. Taking care of others before yourself will eventually lead to burnout and resentment. Pay attention to how you react to others when they want you to do things for them. Little by little you can start healing and making yourself a priority in your life. Go get it and we are here if you need us. We have done the work and continue each day so we can help.
