Ring, ring! Ring, ring! It’s time to wake up! When your alarm clock goes off it’s time to get up. Many of us seem to really struggle with waking up in the morning. Do you struggle?
Your alarm clock is supposed to be your accountability partner. It’s there to create an understanding and motivation for you to rise up and start your day. Why do we constantly hit the snooze button? Well, I don’t, I usually get up right away. I just said it so you wouldn’t feel like the only one in the conversation to be a lazy bug.
Your day has to start with a purpose first and foremost for the whole alarm thing to work. Do you have a purpose? I sure hope so. If not, you really should check out some of our earlier posts to hopefully help you get back on track. To become the best version of you.
No, the alarm clock ringing and you rising doesn’t mean you’ve made it. It means that you are dedicated to your cause. Your why. Finding your purpose is such a cool thing! You will see things in a whole new light. You will want to start seizing each day the best you can.
Not every day will you have mounds of energy to keep you honing your craft, but look at the big picture and strive. Do the countdown thing. Get a better-sounding alarm alert. Change it up from time to time. Change it up because sometimes we get used to things and then tune them out. My 13-year-old is a perfect example. That kid has alarms set every ten minutes in the a.m. and it’s crazy.
Another thing that is very important to make this work is to actually create a sleep schedule. Yes, routine is a critical component of your overall health and performance. Make one that makes sense for your world. Stick to it. To have a good system it needs to be done every day not just during the traditional work week. Yes, you should live your life and enjoy festivities but get back on the schedule as quickly as possible.
The more we keep hitting the snooze button the more we get further behind in what we are trying to accomplish. Have you set your goals? Make a list of things you want to get done and try to attack those first. Go for the more complicated and time-consuming tasks early on. After a while fatigue will set in. Decision fatigue.
What I would really like to add as well is that I think it’s a good idea to dedicate the very first hour of each and every day for you. Morning yoga, a nice walk in your neighborhood, meditation in a peaceful place, or whatever you can just for you. No distractions and no unnecessary technology. Those things just get in your way and cause you to keep responding to things. If you get up early before the rest of the world the less distractions you will encounter.
The more you stick with the schedule the better you will be. I have been on my system for some time now and it really does help me be more productive. Life will turn left and right and sometimes we fall off. That’s OK. I am rooting for you!
