Health Hack 101 (#202)

We all love hacks, don’t we?! I know I sure do! I do prefer to partake in hacks that are truly beneficial to me. These are more tips for a healthier life. My brain is constantly trying to learn and do better every day in every way that I can.

Lately, I have really been trying to gain control over my unnecessary eating habits and also the whole sugar thing. Additionally, I am trying to create a better overall health regiment. This has been a struggle for years though. Most of my life I really didn’t have to worry about what I ate because I had such a high metabolism. I am now more concerned because the age on my license keeps going up. 

Some of the things I have learned I have been able to put into daily practice and it seems to be working well for me. Not every hack or tip will work for everyone so please be mindful of that. Each of us is made beautifully different. 

Health Hack 101

(in the magical order)

  1. Eat the fiber first when eating a meal. The veggies are super important to go down the pipes at the very start. Why? Because I said so! Ok, kidding. But really do eat those first and I mean eat all of it first. They say that the nutrients in the veggies will soak all in and get started right away. 
  2. Next, eat all the protein. The protein will then follow and soak in whatever it can. Eat all the protein during that time.
  3. After that eat the starches. Finish the starches at that time. Yes, they say eat all of one at a time. It’s weird, but hey I believe it works. Please watch the amount of starches you eat.
  4. When you are done eating please clean up after yourself. A great habit to get into.
  5. Brush your teeth immediately after each meal. The dentist says it’s best to get rid of all that yuck so you don’t get cavities. Additionally, when you brush your teeth afterwards it’s an indicator to your body that you are done eating. This will help curb potential overeating and opting for sinful desserts. Just do it and you’ll thank me later. 
  6. After that go get some exercise. Yep, go for a long walk. But hopefully not off a short pier. Lol This will help the digestion process and fill in all the spots with the above nutrients distribution. Now only the necessary fats are stored. Make sense?

Bonus

If you are out and about and you go to a restaurant opt for veggies as a starter instead of bread or chips or greasy stuff. Yes, this sucks and you probably won’t like me much after this, but hey maybe I just did something good for your life. Pass it on!

This was/is tough for me because when it comes to eating I am like a DJ. I am all over the place! A bite of this, maybe two bites of that and so on. My whole life I have eaten for what seems like recreation. I am originally from an island and we love to eat. It just makes us happy. My brain needs to rewrite the whole script. Not the happy part though. Food is for a reason and I don’t need to indulge all the time. 

Balance, balance, balance.

Conclusion

Fiber first, then protein, then starch, then brush teeth, then walk. Do these in this order from here moving forward. It won’t be easy if you’ve never done it before, but once you buy into the whole science of it you’ll be on your way to making better health decisions.
