The secrets of success are not really secrets. Many people don’t truly comprehend what success is. The definition varies depending on who you ask. It varies mainly because there seems to be a misunderstanding. One of the first things many will say is that success is being rich and having everything on tap at your disposal. Everyone has their own definition.

The saying, “I’ll be happy when I am a millionaire and can travel the world,” is pretty common. “I’ll be happy when” implies that they won’t be happy until then and that the financial gains are what brings them happiness. In some cases having the finances could bring happiness, but I believe that it would be short-lived if someone wasn’t happy prior to said riches. Having finances could help people who are ill and can’t afford to see good doctors. Some medical issues can be a long road and the money could aid for sure.

To me being successful is internal first and foremost and anything that follows would be a cool added bonus. Happiness within then projected outward. Being able to learn about yourself and your abilities are priceless. When you are happy within yourself you then shine!

Yes, sappy I know but hey it really does make a big difference with most other areas of your life. Internal success then affords you the ability to pursue different avenues of your choice. When you are discontent with yourself and your world, you just wander around aimlessly like a raincloud. Boo.

Getting to the point where you feel all the goodness within will give you the opportunity to get to the outward success, whatever that means to you. I know many people who have had lots of money and were totally miserable. Some stories of working themselves to the bone with no end in sight.

They have lots of money but no happiness nor time to do the things that once made them happy. On the flip side, some people decided to stop exchanging time for money and made a decision to live in a reasonable home near the ocean, forego the fancy toys, and played in the water as much as they could.

It’s all up to you how you want to live, but if you’re not smiling on the daily then you should reevaluate your situation. How do you become successful internally?

7 tips of internal success

(in no magical order)

  1. Be clear about your short and longterm goals. Having an understanding as to what you want out of life goes a long way towards success.
  2. Handle the areas in your life that you can control, then let everything else be. Too many people stress over things that are beyond their control.
  3. Don’t try to take everything on. Too many things going on can wear your happiness down.
  4. Learn when to say, “No.” If you are like I was where I was a people pleaser, then you know you would say yes to everything even at your detriment. It’s ok to say no.
  5. Figure out what things make you happy and start working on them. Do as much of the happy stuff as you can.
  6. Manage the internal and external voice. What you say matters all around. If you say you can’t, well then you won’t.
  7. Manage your health and wellbeing. Mental health is a big part of this. Minimize as many stresses as you are able to.

Conclusion

Internal success is the most important thing because it will give you the greater reward, happiness. Knowing what are the things that make you happy are key to paving the way in your life. If you like discovering things, start heading out for that. Keep evolving and growing internally. Success will become present!
